Students from the SLU doctoral course PFS0093Forest Governance on a Landscape Scale will during these tree days report on their work dealing with a specific governance issue related to Helge River, Vilhelmina, Bergslagen, Ilomantsi and Mazury areas.

NordGen Skov inviterer i samarbejde med Danske Planteskoler og Naturstyrelsen til temadag fredag 23. august 2013.

På programmet er øget biomasseproduktion, plantetal i kulturer, kulturintensitet og kulturmodeller, biomasseoptimeret skovdyrkning samt kulturkvalitet som grundlag for produktionsskov i Sverige. Programmet sluttes af med en ekskursion på Frijsenborg.

Combined Workshop/PhD course in genomics based breeding in forest trees

AdapCAR’s Combined Workshop/PhD course in genomics based breeding in forest trees is held in Copenhagen on September 16-19, 2013.

Day one (September 16) will be presentations of how to use genomic data in breeding – both in trees, other plants and animals.

Day 2-4 (September 17-19 – only participants in the PhD course) will be hands-on computer exercises mixed with presentations and introductions. Lecturers will be Ross Whetten and Fikret Isik, both from North Carolina State University.

A Nordgen Forest conference will be held in Hallormsstaður in eastern Iceland on 17-18 September 2013. The conference theme is Northern Forests in a Changing Climate.

The conference will focus on possible developments in northern forest ecosystems in a changing climate and the potential influences on forestry practices. A special emphasis is on how a changing climate may influence our choices of tree species and provenances, now and in the future.

Trees4Future stakeholder meeting: Contributing to the green bio-economy

This Trees4Future meeting provides an opportunity for discussions amongst a broad spectrum of stakeholders on European research needs in contributing to green bio-economy, and especially the role of genetics and genomics.

These are issues of strategic importance for the forest-based sector, and the outcomes of the meeting will help to steer the activities of the Trees4Future project to allow the project to better meet the needs of different stakeholders. Meeting registration is open to all interested stakeholders.
