YPEF Final in Germany challenges youth to work in international teams and test their knowledge and practical skills in forests

Today the final stage of the international contest "Young People in European Forests" began. Youth from 11 European countries gathered in Eberswalde, Germany to test their knowledge and skills in forestry.

Young People in European Forests 4th edition started today and has brought youth from 11 countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, and Romania) to Germany. The contest focusing on youth integration through environmental education is encouraging young people to cooperate, exchange experience and introduce their home country’s nature and culture.

During four days young people aged between 13 and 19  will test their knowledge in nature and forestry, by taking a quiz on European forests, challenging their practical skills in the beech forests of Eberswalde and presenting their ideas on forests with a poster presentation. For the first time in YPEF history three-membered teams are formed by a draw, with all members coming from a different country. This challenges youth to exchange their knowledge on forestry, practice English, learn about other cultures and work as a team in an international environment.

Young People in European Forests is an international contest for youth aged 13 to 19. The contest is organized at national and international stages,  engaging young people in environmental education throughout the year. The next country to host the European Final in 2015 will be elected in Germany.
